Terms of the matching service

These terms apply to every matching ordered from ISANIZE. You accept them when ordering; the version you accept is recorded with your matching. They form part of the terms and conditions of ISANIZE.

1. What the service does
You upload a file with your productions. For every title in it we search the ISAN registry for the record that describes the same work, season, episode or series, and we report the ISAN we found, or that we found none. The result is a file with your own titles and the ISANs added, and a list of the titles that have no ISAN yet.

2. How titles are matched
A title is matched on what your file says about it and on what the ISAN registry holds: title and other titles, year, length, director, cast, country, kind of work and, for series, the season and episode numbers. Every candidate record gets a score that says how much agrees. A match where title, year and director all agree and something else confirms it as well is pre-selected as a strong match; every match, pre-selected or not, is confirmed or decided by a person.
To find the right record we also use reference data from third-party services, and we use artificial intelligence to look that data up and to derive titles, directors, cast and identifiers from it. Everything that rests on reference data instead of on your file is marked as such on the screens (✦) and in the result file.
For every match we show what it is based on: which titles, years, directors, cast members and other facts agree, which differ, and the score. That information is there so you can judge each match yourself.

3. The data we rely on
The outcome depends on the quality of the data in the ISAN registry, which is entered by many different registrants and which ISANIZE does not control, on the quality and completeness of the data in your file, and on the reference data of third parties. A wrong or incomplete record in the registry, in your file or in the reference data can lead to a wrong match or to a title not being found. ISANIZE does not check the ISAN registry for correctness.

4. Your responsibility
Checking the result is your responsibility, whether you check the matches yourself or ISANIZE checks them for you. Before you use an ISAN for a title, register a title, or pass the result on to others, you verify that the match is right, with the information we provide per match. A check by ISANIZE is done with care, on the same information, and does not replace your own verification.
You make sure that you are entitled to upload the data in your file and that it contains no data you may not share with us.

5. No liability
The service is provided as it is. ISANIZE is not liable, financially or otherwise, for the use of the service or for the results that come out of it. That includes, without limitation: a wrong, missing or double match; a registration, a payment, a claim or any other decision made on the basis of a result; a title that was not found although it has an ISAN; delays; and the unavailability of the service, the ISAN registry or a third-party reference service.
ISANIZE does not guarantee that a matching is complete or correct. Any liability that cannot be excluded by law is limited to the amount you paid for the matching concerned.

6. Prices and payment
The price of a matching is shown before you order it: per title, plus a fee when you let ISANIZE check the matches. The matching starts after payment, unless nothing is to be paid. A matching that has started is not refunded.

7. Changes
ISANIZE may change these terms. The version you accepted is recorded with your matching and stays in force for that matching.
